Tong is a patent agent with a multi-faceted experiences in the patent field. He has experience in patent prosecution as a Patent Examiner as well as a patent prosecutor for clients. Tong also was a former practicing engineer prior to his career in patent field supplementing his expertise in the patent field. As a former Patent Examiner with the USPTO, he developed expertise in assessing the patentability of complex innovations. As a patent prosecutor, Tong practice includes various technology areas including semiconductors (including process technology, manufacturing, design, test, packaging, system integration), optics devices, optical systems, hardware, software, complex algorithms, wireless technology, wireline technology, mechanical devices, and network hardware and software.
Tong also brings over two decades of engineering expertise to his patent practice. Tong has worked as a design in various areas including VLSI design, digital design, micro-architecture, and system-on-chip (SoC) development. His work spans high-performance computing architectures, networking technologies, storage solutions, embedded systems, and industry-standard protocols. Tong’s experience in various engineering areas enables him to craft patent applications based on his knowledge of how patents fit into the ecosystem of technology product and service delivery.
Tong received his Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Santa Clara University and his a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering from San Jose State University. Tong has been admitted to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
